Tempest 4000 announced for Nintendo Switch and Atari VCS
Atari’s Tempest 4000 will make its way to more gaming platforms soon.
Announced today, the game will launch on the Nintendo Switch and Atari VCS on March 22. The game, which was originally released in 2018, is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Tempest 4000 is the third sequel to the beloved 1981 game Tempest, following 1994’s Tempest 2000 and 2000’s Tempest 3000. Game designer Jeff Minter, who worked on Tempest 2000 and Tempest 3000, helped bring Tempest 4000 to life. A synopsis for the game reads:
In Tempest 4000, players once again face screaming electric death as they take control of the Claw, a powerful spacecraft equipped to destroy deadly creatures and other obstructions with rapid-fire shots on vibrant geometric prisms. With three game modes to choose from and 100 levels to conquer, players must eliminate all enemies as quickly as possible to survive and achieve that coveted spot at the top of the leaderboards.
