Today, Rocket League developer Psyonix made the announcement via Twitter. With the free-to-play launch, Season one and competitive tournaments will go live. Tomorrow, a slew of updates will arrive, including a new bot difficulty and the Rocket League X Monstercat remixes. More information on the updates can be found here.
This move comes on the same day the game arrives on the Epic Games Store. People who grab Rocket League on the Epic Games Store between September 23 and October 23 will get a $10 Epic Games Store coupon to use on selected games priced $14.99 and up. With an Epic Games account, players are also able to have cross-platform progression. More information on this can be found here.
Released back in 2015, Rocket League has sold over 10 million copies and earned numerous accolades, including Sports Game of the Year at the 2016 D.I.C.E. Awards.
