Los Angeles hard rockers Satellite Citi release new single "Empath"
Los Angeles hard rock act Satellite Citi have unveiled their new single “Empath” today.
Released during Mental Health Awareness Month, the song deals with the five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance). The band have also released an accompanying music video for the cut, which can be seen below. When it comes to the visual, which was directed by Ryan Valdez and Rosie Geozalian, the band said:
“We thought it was important to create a symbolic visual representation in our video, as the world is slowly crawling out of one of the darkest periods in modern history. The video ends with a shot of us staring into a mirror, which represents the responsibility that individuals have to be proactive and seek help when they are in a bad mental state. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to join the fight to end the stigma surrounding various mental illnesses that affect so many people.”
Along with the track, Satellite Citi have released a T-shirt with original artwork by Jaime Valderrama. Proceeds from the shirt, which can be bought here, will go towards NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
“Empath” stems from Satellite Citi’s forthcoming album Fear Tactics, which is slated for a fall release. The album was produced by Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Liz Phair, Touche Amore).
