Olamidé announces new album 'UY Scuti,' releases new single "Rock"
Nigerian hip-hop artist Olamidé has announced their new studio album UY Scuti.
The 10-track album will be released on June 14th through Olamidé’s own YBNL Nation and EMPIRE. Olamidé said this about choosing the album title, which is named after the largest star in the universe:
“I chose UY Scuti for the title because this project is way bigger than anything I’ve ever done before. From the creativity, the amount of work that went into the project, the process, it’s just a new Olamidé inside me.”
The first single from the record titled “Rock” comes with a music video directed by Clarence Peters, which can be seen below. Olamidé said this about their new cut:
“The song is saying my lady doesn't have to do too much to impress me — I love you already. It’s expressing what a guy would sing to a girl to give her confidence. I’m telling the women out there that, if a man truly loves you, you don't have to go overboard to please him.”
UY Scuti is the follow-up to last year’s Carpe Diem, which is the most-streamed album ever by an African artist with 360 million overall streams.
