King of the Dot to bring battle rap season to Twitch in June
Starting in June, North American battle rap league King of the Dot will be doing something different, and fans will witness it all go down on Twitch.
Revealed today, KotD will hold their first-ever battle rap season, which will kick off on June 20. The season will feature 48 rappers split into four divisions. The top 16 competitors at the season’s end will head to the playoffs, which will take place in November. The grand prize winner will walk away with a cash prize of $100,000. The massive amount of battle rappers will need the Twitch audience’s help to move forward through weekly votes.
KotD founder Travis “Organik” Fleetwood said this about the forthcoming season:
“After we saw how the Twitch community and Twitch team embraced battle rap in 2020, we didn’t even blink when we had the chance to make history with them in delivering S1. You learn more from people’s actions than you do from their words, and Twitch demonstrated that they are committed to creating the best experience for battle rap fans around the world every time the ball came their way. We look forward to bringing our audience onto the service for many more successful seasons.”
KotD owner Charles Morgan said:
“S1 seasonality is the only logical step for our league, artists, and partners. The regular cadence enables artists to make new fans every week, from every corner of the map, and puts them in a position to capitalize on their talent all year round. We’re filling Madison Square Garden twice with the number of viewers passing through these streams and our artists deserve even bigger audiences.”
Competitions will take place every Sunday. More information will be released leading to the start of the season. Follow KotD on Twitch here.
