A brand-new experimental RPG will arrive next year courtesy of indie game studio ONYXPRISM.

HYPERxFANTASY is said to combine “the narrative depth of NieR:Automata with the bold, futuristic visual style of Blade Runner” for a mesmerizing game experience. A teaser trailer can be seen here. The game will make its way to PC via Steam. A release date will be revealed soon.

A synopsis for HYPERxFANTASY reads:

HYPERxFANTASY is an experimental narrative RPG set in a brutalist dystopian underworld teetering on the edge of digital ascension. As Dreamer, players navigate an endless megastructure, using a versatile glider to traverse its vast, abstract spaces and advance non-linear storylines through branching dialogue. Tasked by the enigmatic Executor to "digitize everyone" and save them, players will soon question the cult-like hierarchy of this desolate dreamscape, uncovering a conspiracy at the core of the Singularity itself.
Gameplay seamlessly blends dynamic exploration, tension-filled directional swordplay, and innovative narrative mechanics. As the game progresses, its surreal storytelling is elevated through unexpected shifts, from interactive "choose your own adventure" segments to striking 2D sequences that mirror the world’s gradual digitization.
Themes of existentialism, transhumanism, and evolution are woven ambiently into the experience, allowing players to immerse themselves in its philosophical underpinnings without overt exposition. Inspired by the narrative depth of NieR: Automata, the atmospheric mystery of Control and Firewatch, and the bold visual aesthetics of Blade Runner and Tron, HYPERxFANTASY offers a thought-provoking journey through a surreal, visually striking landscape.
