New Jersey indie act Brick + Mortar release new song "Lies of Life"

New Jersey duo Brick + Mortar have unveiled a new song titled “Lies of Life” today.

Frontman Brandon Asraf wrote the track as a letter to his younger self. Growing up, the singer dealt with racism at every turn. “I remember kids throwing racist slurs my way, making fun of the fact I was Jewish, and the sad part is I felt at fault. I never stood up for myself as a kid. I never spoke up or felt pride in my heritage,” he said in a statement.

The track features some additional instrumentation from Roshane Karunaratne, who is a touring member of fellow New Jersey indie act The Front Bottoms.

The duo will appear at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival, which takes place at Asbury Park’s Bradley Park on September 21 and September 22. Other acts appearing on the festival include Dave Matthews Band, Bad Religion, and The Lumineers. Tickets are on sale right now.

Last year, Brick + Mortar released their latest record Meta Meta Etc.
