The Greeting Committee release new single "Ada"
Kansas City alternative rockers The Greeting Committee have dropped their new song “Ada” today.
The track is named after transgender photographer/videographer Ada Brumback, who first met the band years ago. The music video for the song, which can be seen below, was directed by Brumback. The track is also dedicated to a longtime fan of The Greeting Committee named Dakota.
Vocalist Addie Sartino said this about the track’s importance:
“When we were writing that song, [Ada] took the time to go for a two-hour walk with me and tell me about being transgender and growing up in a small town, and what that felt like for her.
I think it’s important to have a song like ‘Ada’ on our album, and it’s even more important to give Ada and Dakota the recognition they deserve. Because at the end of the day, I’m not transgender — that's not my story to share. But I do have a voice and a platform, and to be able to use that platform to share these very personal stories is incredibly special. It’s something that we as a band don’t take lightly.”
“Ada” stems from The Greeting Committee’s forthcoming album Dandelion, which will be released on September 24 via Harvest Records. Pre-orders/pre-saves for the release can be made here. “Ada” is on digital services right now.
