Los Angeles always has a plethora of events going down at every corner. Whether it’s a convention or some local stand-up comedy, there’s always something to do if you’re looking to leave the house. We look at some of the best events going down in Los Angeles this week (September 22 through September 28).
Tuesday, September 23
FACS, Vulture Feather @ The Echo (1822 W Sunset Blvd)

Chicago experimental rock band FACS will be headlining The Echo in support of their latest studio album Wish Defense. The seven-track release was the final album engineered by Steve Albini. Vulture Feather will be the opening act.
Wednesday, September 24
Nick Hexum, Water Tower @ Troubadour (9081 Santa Monica Blvd)

311 vocalist Nick Hexum will be headlining The Troubadour in support of a trilogy of solo EPs released this year. Water Tower will be the opening act as well as Hexum’s backing band. A handful of tickets remain for this show. Our interview with the vocalist can be seen here.
Thursday, September 25
The Hives, Snooper @ Hollywood Palladium (6215 Sunset Blvd)

The Hives will take over Hollywood Palladium in support of their new album The Hives Forever Forever The Hives. Snooper will be the opening act.
Astronaut City grand opening (1037 S. Baldwin Ave)
7 p.m. doors (free)
New live entertainment venue & bar Astronaut City will hold its grand opening this Thursday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Attendees can grab some free swag as well as indulge in karaoke and discounted drinks. More information about the venue can be found here.

L.A. Comic Con @ Los Angeles Convention Center 91201 S Figueroa St)

This weekend, L.A. Comic Con will take over the Los Angeles Convention Center for a three-day celebration of pop culture. Some of the confirmed guests coming to the convention include the casts of Daredevil: Born Again, Starship Troopers, and Doctor Who. More information about L.A. Comic Con can be seen here.
Saturday, September 27
The Bearded Company presents: Swords & Sorcery @ Outside In Theatre (5319 York Blvd)

Los Angeles improv group The Bearded Company will offer an improvised journey through a world of mystery and magic with their Swords & Sorcery show. The cast for the show includes Alice Bebbington, Eric Carthen, Jeremy Hannah, Michaila Hicks, Michelle King, Roberto Lewis, Scott Palmason, Steven Molony, Matthew Pitner, and Thea Darling as the Dungeon Master. Swords & Sorcery will take place every Saturday at 9 p.m. at Outside In Theatre through November 8.
PACKomic-Con: Mach Improv + Who is She Tho? @ The Pack Theater (1615 North Vermont Ave)

Improv teams Mach Improv and Who is She Tho? Will join forces for a special themed night at The Pack Theater. According to the venue, the event is "The Pack's ultimate destination for comics, gaming, cosplay, anime, and pop culture!"

LA vs Transplants @ The Upstairs LA (1415 S. Los Angeles St)

Co-hosted by The Bitter Critics' Kayla Hardy and Amber Easton, LA vs Transplants is back for its September offering at The Upstairs LA. Comedians born in Los Angeles take on transplant comedians in a trivia game to determine who truly knows Los Angeles. Before the competition, comedians will deliver humorous sets. The LA squad features comedians London Lee, Erin Cholakian, Johnny Roque, and Demetri aka Mitch. The Transplants side will have comedians Lin Sun Compani, Antjuan Tobias, Drea Meyers, and Jordan Lloyd. There’s a two-drink minimum for the event.
Since 2009, MP3s and NPCs owner Terrance Pryor has written about music, conventions, cosplay, and video games for publications such as AXS, Examiner, Fake Walls, and Ranker. Based out of Los Angeles, the former rock concert promoter/radio host can be seen talking about rock music on AXS TV’s Music’s Greatest Mysteries and discussing music and whatever else on their Black Man Talks Rock channel on YouTube.
