Read MoreGeorgia metal group Baroness will perform their 2019 studio album Gold & Grey for the first time ever for a special livestream.
Announced today, the band will play the album in full on September 10 at Long Island City’s Culture Lab LIC at The Plaxall Gallery at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST. Tickets for the event are on sale here. The livestream will be available for 48 hours after its conclusion. “The process of recreating the soundscape of Gold & Grey for a live setting has been fun and inspiring to us as we forward to new musical territories. We’re excited to share this experience with everyone!,” guitarist Gina Gleason said in a statement.
Gold & Grey became Baroness’ first album to top the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart.
While Georgia metal act Baroness are separated by self-isolation, it doesn’t mean they can’t rock with each other.
Today, the group unveiled a special video for their song “Tourniquet” titled “Tourniquet (Socially Distant),” which finds them performing in their own homes. In a statement, the band says:
“Hey everyone! Here’s an as-live-as-possible performance of ‘Tourniquet’ that we made over the course of a couple days during this period of isolation. We have all maintained a rigid policy of social-distancing since becoming aware of this pandemic; which has unfortunately deprived us of our much preferred means of playing music. Throughout this crisis, the overall safety and responsibility of our global human community far outweighs the individual value of any show, festival or tour. We’re refocusing and redoubling our energy to adapt to this situation as it unfolds. As difficult as it seems to navigate the effects of this virus, the isolation has not stripped us of our passion for Baroness’ music. Playing music so far from our bandmates will never be particularly natural. However, the experience of making this video through emails, texts and phone calls has been a powerful reminder of how inspiring and invigorating music can be in times of stress, struggle and confusion. We hope you enjoy this performance. It isn’t meant to highlight musical perfection or precision. Personally, it serves as a reminder that, no matter what situation we face, we are still able to enjoy friendship, family and community through something as simple as a song. Isolated but never alone… Baroness.”
“Tourniquet” stems from Baroness’ latest studio album Gold & Grey.
Gainesville punk rock group Against Me! and Savannah metal act Baroness will team up for a co-headlining trek across North America this spring.
Announced today, the tour kicks off on May 1 inside The Majestic Theatre in Detroit, and it’ll conclude with a stop inside The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on May 30. During the month long trek, they’ll make their way to cities such as Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Destroy Boys and Drug Church will tour as support on select dates.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday (February 28) at 10 a.m. local time, but a limited amount of pre-sale tickets will be available starting tomorrow (February 26) at 10 a.m. local time. The full tour routing can be seen below.
