After 27 years together, Canadian pop-punk band Sum 41 are calling it quits.

In a statement released today on Twitter, the band said:

“Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first.

Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current tour dates this year, and we’re looking forward to releasing our final album ‘Heaven and Hell,’ along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.”

Debuting in 1996 under the original moniker Kaspir, Sum 41 gained mainstream success with the release of their 2001 debut album All Killer No Filler, which gave the band their only Hot 100 hit with “Fat Lip.” In 2012, the band earned a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance with their single "Blood in My Eyes." Heaven and Hell, which is slated to be a double album featuring both pop-punk and metal songs, will follow the band’s 2019 studio album Order in Decline. Overall, Sum 41 has sold over 15 million albums worldwide.

This June, the band will have a string of performances in Europe, including a gig at Hellfest 2023. In August, the band will embark on a trek across the United States with The Offspring and Simple Plan. In October, they’ll appear at the When We Were Young Festival in Los Vegas.
