Seven music acts that should've performed at WrestleMania After Dark
WrestleMania is headed to Las Vegas in April, and they’re expanding the celebration with the concert series WrestleMania After Dark. From April 17 through April 20, WWE stars will be teaming up with music acts for one massive party. Many wrestling fans, however, weren’t really fond of the acts slated to perform. We look at seven music acts that would’ve been a better fit for WrestleMania After Dark.
John Cena
One easy way to sell tickets? Have John Cena perform their sole studio album You Can't See Me in an extremely rare concert right before facing Cody Rhodes. Released in 2005, the album spawned the singles "Bad, Bad Man," "Right Now," and Cena's iconic entrance theme "The Time Is Now." Cena could've even had Wiz Khalifa on stage to perform their collaborations "All Day" and "Breaks” from the WWE 2K15 soundtrack.
Limp Bizkit
Anyone who grew up during the Attitude Era knew that Limp Bizkit’s collaborations with the WWE were a match made in heaven. The band’s single “My Way” was perfectly used for one of the greatest WWE promo videos of all time. With many WWE superstars in town, Limp Bizkit could’ve had The Undertaker jump on stage with them during “Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle).”
Downstait
Wrestling has more than one exciting entrance theme thanks to Indiana hard rock group Downstait. Over the years, the band have unveiled entrance music for current and former WWE stars The Miz, Alex Riley, Dolph Ziggler, Matt Cardona, Buddy Matthews, Indi Hartwell, and Chelsea Green. Cody Rhodes' "Kingdom” became the band's most recognizable themes ever with thousands of people ready to cry "WHOA" on cue.
Jim Johnston
Jim Johnston will go down as one of the greatest entrance theme composers of all time. Johnston performing some classic WWE themes live with a backing band would’ve been an absolute wonder for WWE fans. A sit-down interview with the composer and some special WWE guests would’ve also been a great alternative.
Lilian Garcia
Lilian Garcia is widely known for being one of the best ring announcers in the business, but many WWE fans aren’t aware of Garcia’s music career outside of the ring. In 2007, Garcia unveiled their debut Latin pop album ¡Quiero Vivir!, which was co-produced by George Noriega and Tim Mitchell. In 2012, Garcia unveiled their My Time EP, which featured songs in both English and Spanish. While it’s been a long time since Garcia dropped some new tunes, they’ve been performing live for years.
Poppy
While Limp Bizkit had a few songs as PLE themes, Poppy (so far) has five songs make their way to PLEs with their most recent one being at this year’s Elimination Chamber. If that's not enough, Poppy unveiled EAT (NXT Soundtrack) and had their song "Say Cheese" become an official theme song for NXT. With a handful of performances on NXT, the pop/metal artist has a following with the WWE crowd.
Rev Theory
While Rev Theory are mostly known for giving Randy Orton one rockin’ entrance theme, the band have had a handful of songs as themes for PLEs in the past such as "Justice" from WWE Extreme Rules 2011 and "Light it Up" from WWE WrestleMania XXIV. At WrestleMania XXX, the band would perform Orton’s theme song live in front of 60,000 folks in attendance.
