Los Angeles experimental artist Anna Butterss announces new album 'Activities,' shares new song "Super Lucrative"
Los Angeles experimental artist Anna Butterss, who worked with artists such as Aimee Mann and Phoebe Bridgers, will unveil their debut album this summer.
Announced today, Activities will be released on July 8 via Colorfield Records. The 12-track album was co-produced by Butterss and Colorfield Records’ Pete Min, and it features collaborations with saxophonist Josh Johnson, drummers Ben Lumsdaine and Christian Euman and Min on the percussion. The first single from the record titled “Super Lucrative” comes with a music video directed by John Herndon.
The album focuses on Butterss’ decision to move from Australia to the United States. The artist further discusses this situation:
“In mid-2021, I had just hit nine years living in the United States and I have always found dates to be very important. I always remember them. When that anniversary came around last year, I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I've been here for nine years.’
I was thinking a lot about the implications and the weight of that decision, that at the time when I decided to move, I was 21. I wasn't really thinking very far ahead, but as each year goes by, I think, ‘Oh my gosh, I haven't seen my family.’”
Activities can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp right now.
