Far From Dead hits Steam in April

Boss rush action game Far From Dead will arrive next month.

Revealed today, the game will be released on April 10 on PC (via Steam). A trailer for the game can be seen here. The game was created by independent developer Brian O'Keefe, who previously released Super Flipside.

A synopsis for Far From Dead reads:

FAR FROM DEAD is an independently developed boss rush game for PC and Mac. Created in the style of 2D run 'n gun classics, FAR FROM DEAD plays like a platforming shoot 'em up but with an exclusive focus on boss fights.

Players will take control of a mysterious young man who hopes to hitch a ride off the planet, facing off against seven challenging bosses on his quest. Each boss is designed with multiple phases and unique twists for players to overcome. The player character's abilities are centered around a dash that provides generous invincibility and a wall jump that can be used to avoid attacks, along with a rapid-fire handgun for returning fire. Many fights play out like those found in classic shmups, with a focus on surviving attack patterns while simultaneously finding openings to keep pressure on the opponent.

FAR FROM DEAD is designed to be challenging, with the expectation that players will fail each boss fight multiple times while they learn the ropes. An included Assist Mode will allow players to tweak specific parameters related to difficulty, providing a more casual experience for players who desire it. A first time playthrough with Assist Mode disabled is expected to take about 2-4 hours to complete.

Far From Dead can be wishlisted on Steam right now here. A demo is currently available for those looking to check it out. Progress made in the demo will be carried over to the main game.

FAR FROM DEAD now has an official release date! Get it on Steam for PC and Mac on April 10, 2026!
