Earthworm Jim TV series is in the works
Earthworm Jim will make their return to the small screen.
Revealed today, the video game character will star in a brand new series, which partners Interplay Entertainment with Agency for the Performing Arts. Writer/producer Michel K Parandi will lead the creative team for the series. Parandi said this about the series:
"I remember loving Earthworm Jim as a kid. And there's so much potential in this story universe: a galaxy full of animals battling for power. Jim is an earthworm in a universe where Earth is nothing more than a myth. His struggle to find meaning is surreal and comical, but it's also relatable.”
Parandi will be working alongside producer Aaron Billet and animation studio Passion Pictures, which is lead by animation producer Marc Bodin-Joyeux. Billet said this also spoke about the new show:
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to create a show for an iconic character that we grew up both playing on Genesis, and watching on tv. The fans have matured and deserve a current take as we bring in new audiences.”
Earthworm Jim also had some words to say about the show, which can be seen here.
In 1995, an animated series based on the video game debuted on Kids’ WB. The show earned an Annie Award nomination for Best Individual Achievement: Producing in a TV Production for Kathi Castillo’s work on the episode "Hyper-Psycrow.”
A new Earthworm Jim game will be released exclusively on the forthcoming Intellivision Amico.
