Disney's Gargoyles video game is getting a remaster
Disney is bringing back a beloved ‘90s video game to a new generation.
Announced at yesterday’s D23 Expo, Gargoyles will be getting remastered thanks to Empty Clip Studios, who are best known for their work on Streets of Kamurocho and Dead Island: Retro Revenge. The remastered game is slated to arrive on consoles and PC in the future. Players can expect updated graphics and controls.
Released in 1995 on the Sega Genesis, Gargoyles was a well-received game by critics. The game was set to be released on the Super Nintendo, but it was scrapped. Game programmer Chris Shrigley dropped the source codes for both Genesis and SNES versions on their website for educational purposes.
Back in July, it was revealed that Dynamite Entertainment is joining forces with Disney to deliver a new Gargoyles comic book series slated to serve as season four of the beloved cartoon series. Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman will write the new series. Aside from the new issues, previous issues from Marvel Comics and Slave Labor Graphics will be reprinted through Dynamite Entertainment. The new comic book series is set to arrive later this year.
Gargoyles is available to watch on Disney+ right now.
