Australian rock band Moreton release new single "Downfall"
Australian rock band Moreton unveiled their new single “Downfall” today.
An accompanying music video, which can be seen below, features camcorder footage shot by vocalist Georgia James Potter and some friends in Berlin, London, Dresden, Byron Bay, Melbourne and Changi. Joshua Tate took care of editing the final product.
Potter said this about the new single:
“When I sing Downfall, with the drums heavy behind me, I feel like a boxer in the final round. Split lip, gloves on, refusing defeat as best I can. It’s raw to release, if I’m honest. I don’t seek or fetishise heartache in the way my lyrics might seem, but its inevitable presence is too sticky to ignore when you’re also songwriting everyday. The Dog Years were this chapter of my life, captured on record with my friends in-between lockdowns.”
“Downfall” stems from Moreton’s new EP The Dog Years, which will be released on May 25. The release was co-produced by Potter and Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1Dads, Maple Glider). “Downfall” is available on digital services right now.
Next month, Moreton will have performances at Brunswick Picture House (May 12) and the Billinudgel Daze Festival (May 13). Tickets for both events are on sale to the general public right now.
