AnimeNEXT to go on indefinite hiatus

New Jersey anime convention AnimeNEXT won’t be around for the foreseeable future.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the convention will go on an indefinite hiatus. Like many conventions, AnimeNEXT had a rocky time traversing through lockdown. Following virtual events in 2020 and 2021, the convention was slated to return to in-person form in 2022. Unfortunately, several issues caused them to cancel the event. AnimeNEXT finally returned in 2023 at Edison’s New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, but issues with AnimeNEXT’s parent company Universal Animation, Inc. resulted in them skipping last year.
A statement reads:
From the Chairman of the Board of Universal Animation, Inc.
Due to past and current circumstances, AnimeNEXT is on indefinite hiatus until further notice.
Universal Animation, Inc., the parent company of AnimeNEXT, is going through organizational restructuring and addressing many legacy issues.
To be clear this means that there will be no events this year, 2025, or going forward until further notice.
