Wind Breaker live-action film adaptation announced

A live-action film adaptation of the hit anime series Wind Breaker has been revealed today.
The announcement was made following the finale of Wind Breaker’s second season. The film’s cast will be announced soon. The film, which will be distributed by Warner Bros., is slated to arrive in theaters across Japan later this year. Kentaro Hagiwawa, who worked on film adaptations for Tokyo Ghoul and Blue Period, will be the film’s director. Yoshitaka Kamo, whose past credits include Hard Days and Prior Convictions, will be the film’s producer. The film’s script will be written by Yosuke Masaike, who worked on Anime Supremacy! and The Red Apple. A teaser trailer for the film adaptation can be seen here.
The first two seasons of Wind Breaker can be streamed on Crunchyroll right now here. A synopsis for the show reads:
Welcome to Furin High School, an institution infamous for its population of brawny brutes who solve every conflict with a show of strength. Some of the students even formed a group, Bofurin, which protects the town. Haruka Sakura, a first-year student who moved in from out of town, is only interested in one thing: fighting his way to the top.
