They Hate Change release new single “Some Days I Hate My Voice”
Tampa Bay hip-hop act They Hate Change have dropped the final single from their forthcoming studio album Finally, New today.
“Some Days I Hate My Voice” deals with gender identity, and it features shoutouts to 100 gecs and 60’s trans soul star Jackie Shane. Vonne said this about the cut, which is out on digital services right now:
“I’ve written a bunch of sad lyrics about gender identity in the past, mostly while being sad about gender identity. Sad songs are played out though, so I approached this joint charged up and went at it from a different, equally honest perspective, that represents the experience of having a gender identity or expression that’s constantly in flux (in a positive way!).”
Finally, New, which can be pre-ordered here, will be released on May 13 via Jagjaguwar. They Hate Change will support the album with a summer tour alongside Shame, which includes a performance at Los Angeles’ This Ain’t No Picnic on August 28. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are available to the general public right now.
