The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game will stop getting updates

Gun Interactive has unveiled some sad news for fans of their Texas Chain Saw Massacre game.
On Tuesday, the publishers revealed the game will no longer receive updates or new content going forward. Fortunately for players, the game will not be getting delisted from digital stores. The title will slide into peer-to-peer matchmaking in the future.
A statement from Gun Interactive reads:
“….The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will not be receiving any further future content or support. This means that there will be no more DLC, balance updates, or bug fixes, after our upcoming May patch. You can still expect a few more patches in the future in order to transition towards peer-to-peer matchmaking. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will still be playable and is NOT being delisted from store fronts. Our community team will continue to interact with our players as we continue to celebrate The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with all of you who love this game just as much as we do.
As a creative studio, it’s imperative to communicate that we’ve seen this vision through to the natural creative end. We are a scrappy group of horror heads and artists continuously working on bringing cinematic experiences to you all. We appreciate the folks who understand the vision we are bringing to the asymmetrical multiplayer horror space because let’s face it, it may not be for everyone. But those who get it, those who have widened their gaming circles to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, those who have reveled in the terror, horror, and beauty of this world with their friends keep us motivated and ready to continue to do what we do best… make your favorite horror games. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
What’s next for Gun?
…STAY TUNED.”
Released on consoles and PC back in August 2023, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre gained over one million players within 24 hours of its initial launch. Most of that success stemmed from the game being featured on Game Pass upon its release. Back in December, DLC characters Bones and Wyatt were released. Bill Moseley and Skeet Ulrich portray these characters, respectively.
Since 2009, MP3s and NPCs owner Terrance Pryor has written about music, conventions, cosplay, and video games for publications such as AXS, Examiner, Fake Walls, and Ranker. Based out of Los Angeles, the former rock concert promoter/radio host can be seen talking about rock music on AXS TV’s Music’s Greatest Mysteries and discussing music and whatever else on their Black Man Talks Rock channel on YouTube.
