Los Angeles always has a plethora of events going down at every corner. Whether it’s a convention or some improv, there’s always something to do if you’re looking to leave the house. We look at some of the best events going down in Los Angeles this week (June 15 through June 21).
Friday, June 19
Friday Block Party Presents: The UCB Juneteenth Improv Extravaganza @ UCB Theatre (5919 Franklin Ave.)

Friday Block Party will celebrate Juneteenth with a massive improv show at UCB Theatre. The huge lineup for Friday's show features Jacquis Neal, Nnamdi Ngwe, Monique Moses, Toni Adeyemi, Courtney Theophin, Jahred King, Tarek Ziad, Dior Allen, Ashley Parchment, Londale Theus Jr., Chris Eddins, Jonathan Braylock, Danya Granado, Blake Edwards, Aricia Skidmore-Williams, Da’rrel Stacy, Aman Adumer, Elijah Reed, Mattia Day, Marcus Folmar, Adrian Snow, Paige Elson, Tameka Cruel, Genetra Tull, Ahsohn Williams, Aziza Stewart, Patrick Rowland, Rasheda Crockett, Jon Durnell, Marshall Givens, Otto Graham, Chrystale Davis, Angelique Henderson, and Evan Cleaver. Saturday, June 20
Devourment @ 1720 (1720 E. 16th St.)
Doors: 6 p.m. (tickets)
Devourment will be headlining 1720 for a two-night event, and tickets for both shows are close to sold out (tickets for Sunday can be found here). The death metal band recently unveiled their new EP Pious Impiety, which is their first new piece of music since their 2019 studio album Obscene Majesty. Following the Los Angeles shows, Devourment will support Hatebreed on the Summer Slaughter tour.
The Best Time With Nnamdi: Juneteenth comedy celebration @ UCB Theatre (5919 Franklin Ave.)
Doors: 5:20 p.m. (free to the public)
Nnamdi Ngwe will bring their Best Time With Nnamdi improv show to UCB Theatre for a special Juneteenth edition. Free to the public, the lineup for this show features Ngwe, X Mayo, Shantira Jackson, Dewayne Perkins, Corin Wells, Patrick Rowland, and Rashawn Nadine Scott. Smells Like Love @ Dynasty Typewriter (2511 Wilshire Blvd.)
Doors: 6 p.m. (tickets)
Smells Like Love is a dating game with a wild twist. Created by comedian Emma Vernon, the game brings singles together to find their next date by only their scent. Single people looking to find their potential soulmate at future shows can apply here.

Darling and Moxie @ The Pack Theater (1615 North Vermont Ave.)

Pack Theater house sketch teams Darling and Moxie join forces for a night of comedy at the Los Feliz space. Darling features Alisa Boland, Andrew Dahlquist, Jared Hounshell, Jacob Kennelly, Steph Philo, Mikey Reid, Jacky Tran, Owen Matthew Welsh, Annika Wines, and Claire Young. Moxie includes Jupiter Baudot, Bryan Philip Cruz, Rebecca Del Sesto, William Scott Evans, Matt Harbert, Brigid Marshall, Lauri Roggenkamp, Peter Rambo, Hannah Singer, Julian Vlcan, Jackie Winn, and Diana Witt.
