The Dixie Chicks change name to The Chicks, release new song “March March"

The Dixie Chicks are no more. From now on, Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer, and Martie Maguire will be known as The Chicks.

Announced today, the beloved country group dropped the Dixie from their name due to its racist history. Along with the name change announcement, The Chicks unveiled their new protest song “March March.” The music video for the track, which was directed by Seanne Farmer, can be seen below.

The song stems from their forthcoming studio album Gaslighter, which is set for a July 17 release. This is The Chicks’ first studio album since 2006’s Taking the Long Way. The album also features previously released singles “Julianna Calm Down” and the title track. Pre-orders for Gaslighter, which includes merch with their new name, can be made here.
