S.P.E.A.R. comes to Xbox Series X/S in January

2.5D action-platformer S.P.E.A.R. is making its way to the Xbox Series X/S next month.

Revealed yesterday, the game will launch on January 9. The game was developed by Andrea Cavuoto, who is best known as the director of the award-winning short film Underdog. A new trailer can be seen here. Cavuoto said this about the game:

“We’ve spent years fighting real bugs… so we decided to make a game about it. Default is the only character unlucky enough to be in the wrong project at the wrong time, but also brave enough to try and save it. We can’t wait to see how Xbox players take on the monstrous Glitches we’ve unleashed.”

A synopsis for S.P.E.A.R. reads:

It all starts like a classic fairytale:

you’re a knight in shining armor, the crowd is cheering…

and then the game crashes.

Welcome to S.P.E.A.R., a fast-paced 2.5D action-platformer where glitches and bugs are tearing a videogame world apart.

Everyone is gone.

Well, almost everyone.

You play as Default, a forgotten NPC armed with a makeshift spear built from a broom and a mouse cursor.

Fight corrupted enemies, uncover hidden secrets, collect pieces of code, and stop the developers from deleting the whole project.

Explore a rich 3D overworld, unlock secret challenges, battle twisted mini-bosses, and dive into a world that knows it’s about to be erased.

S.P.E.A.R. is available on Steam right now here.
