Six standout games played at IGN Live 2024 in Los Angeles
This past weekend, IGN Live brought a slew of video game fans to Los Angeles' Magic Box at The Reef, and as expected, a grand amount of video games were present to enjoy. While there were some classic and recent titles on the showfloor, there were some surprising games that left an impression on us. Here are our most noticeable games played at IGN Live 2024. Our review and photos of the event can be found here.
Wild Bastards
Game studio Blue Manchu will deliver the highly-anticipated follow-up to Void Bastards this September with Wild Bastards, and at IGN Live, the Wild Bastards stations were packed with folks looking to get an early taste of the game. Players will find themselves traversing the map for treasures, but when it's time to duel, they'll get dropped into FPS mode to take out their foes. Wild Bastards will be released on September 12 via PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam); a demo is available right now here.
BattleCore Arena
BattleCore Arena, which was originally released in 2017 but re-released earlier this month, stands out from other PvP games on the market due to gravity being a strong factor in its gameplay. Imagine a plethora of Wrecking Balls (or Hammonds, if you want) placed on an aerial battlefield with goal of victory on their mind. Trying to roll around on the field while avoiding an accidental plummet to your death can be a bit tricky at times. BattleCore Arena is out right now here.
The Rogue Prince of Persia
While Prince of Persia fans must wait longer for the Sands of Time remake, they can dive into The Rogue Prince of Persia right now here. Released on Steam in Early Access in May, the 2.5D roguelike has all of the parkour moves fans of the franchise are used to. An official release date for the game will be unveiled soon.
Flock
If you're looking for something that isn't stressful, Flock is the ideal game. In the title, you play as flying shepherds trying to collect information on various creatures in hopes of having their join your team. While flying games force players to maneuver with two analog sticks, Flock auto-adjusts flight so you don't crash into anything. Flock will be released on July 16 via PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC (via Steam), and Xbox Game Pass; a demo is available right now here.
Hangry
Hangry feels like a forgotten title released at the tail end of the PS2 cycle, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. In this title, you play as the titular character, whose main job is to devour enemies for ingredients. Developed and published by Canadian studio Game Pill, the "snack nā slash RPG" currently has no official release date, but a demo is available on Steam right now here.
Gori Cuddly Carnage
Do you like cats, hoverboards, or attacking violent unicorns? If you answered yes to any choice, then add Gori Cuddly Carnage to your wishlist ASAP. The titular character must take down the Adorable Army with the aid of their sentient hoverboard F.R.A.N.K and A.I companion, CH1-P. In the demo, the game's movement felt smooth as butter while the soundtrack composed by William Sahl gave the battles an extra kick of adrenaline. Gori Cuddly Carnage will arrive on August 29 via PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). Pre-orders for the game can be found here.
