Red Bull decided to turn one vacant airport in New Orleans into a skater’s paradise.
Revealed yesterday, the company unveiled their Red Bull Terminal Takeover, which was inspired by Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. For this event, Red Bull teamed up with New York Design and Construction to construct the perfect skate spot. A video of the event, which can be seen below, features skateboaders such as Jake Wooten, Kareem Campbell, X Games gold medalist Alex Sorgente, and Olympians Brighton Zuener and Vincent Matheron.
Campbell, who appeared in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games said this about the event:
“Everything I’ve seen here has blown my mind. From the course, to the tarmac, to the Red Bull plane and the jam session… it’s unreal. It’s something I don’t think anyone can recreate, except in a video game.”
During the Red Bull Terminal Takeover, eight amateur skate teams from across the country showed their stuff. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite skate team by heading here and checking out their two-minute video compilation. The team with the most votes will earn prize money for an organization of their choice.
