Overwatch League Grand Finals 2022 to take place in Anaheim

The Overwatch League will hold its grand finals in front of a live audience for the first time since 2019.

The grand finals will take place on November 4 inside the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Pre-sale tickets are live to the general public here. To obtain a pre-sale code, you must join the Overwatch League newsletter. Tickets will go on sale to the general public next Friday (September 30) at 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST. Two day passes to the grand finals and the qualifying playoff matches on November 3, which will also be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, will also be available. The playoffs begin on October 30.

An explanation of the playoffs read:

In the West Region—comprising the Atlanta Reign, Boston Uprising, Dallas Fuel, Florida Mayhem, Houston Outlaws, London Spitfire, Los Angeles Gladiators, New York Excelsior, Paris Eternal, San Francisco Shock, Toronto Defiant, Vancouver Titans, and Washington Justice—the six teams that finish the regular season with the most League Points will directly qualify for the playoff bracket. In the East Region—which includes the Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Hangzhou Spark, Los Angeles Valiant, Philadelphia Fusion, Seoul Dynasty, and Shanghai Dragons—the three teams with the most regular-season League Points will earn a spot as well.

The other three berths will be determined through the Countdown Cup play-ins taking place Oct. 14–15 in the East and Oct. 21–22 in the West. In the West, the 7th through 10th seeds (based on League Points) will compete in a double-elimination tournament for two spots, with teams seeded by cumulative League Points for the first-round matches. The 4th through 6th seeds in the East will compete in a single-elimination bracket for one remaining spot; the 5th and 6th seeds will face off with the winner facing the 4th seed.

Once the 12 playoff teams are finalized, they will be seeded into the double-elimination playoff bracket based on their overall League Points earned, with LAN matches being broadcast from Anaheim Convention Center beginning Oct. 30. To enjoy the action in person, fans can attend the conclusion of the playoffs from Nov. 3–4, which culminates in an epic Grand Finals! Higher seeds in each region will enjoy significant advantages throughout the postseason, including byes, choice of opponent for the first round of the playoff bracket, and opening map selection.

Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up for the release of Overwatch 2 on October 4. They recently announced that Overwatch will shut down on October 2. More information on what fans can expect with Overwatch 2 can be found here.
