Nintendo GameCube games are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 will bring forth the arrival of another beloved Nintendo console.

Revealed today, Nintendo GameCube games will be available to play on Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II, and F-Zero GX will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch of June 5.

The standout title in the initial announcement is SoulCalibur II. Upon the game’s initial launch in 2002, the Xbox, PlayStation, and GameCube versions each had a console-exclusive character. Xbox owners had Spawn, PlayStation owners could use Tekken’s Heihachi Mishima, and GameCube owners had The Legend of Zelda’s Link. While the previously released (and now delisted) SoulCalibur II HD Online featured both Spawn and Heihachi, Link was still only available on the GameCube version.

More GameCube games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, including Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Super Mario Sunshine (which was previously available on Super Mario 3D All-Stars back in 2020), and Luigi’s Mansion. An announcement video can be seen here.

Nintendo will launch a special pre-order over on its webstore via a lottery. Head here to sign up for a chance to pre-order the console. Pre-orders will go live through other retailers soon.
