11 music acts that would be perfect for The Bamboozle's 20th anniversary in 2023
11 years after bidding farewell, the Bamboozle Festival will make its grand return in time for its 20th anniversary in 2023. The New Jersey music festival has showcased a wide range of acts during its time, including Paramore, Killswitch Engage, and Insane Clown Posse. While the festival is two years away, it doesn’t hurt to think about what acts might show up for the celebration. These are 11 acts that we’d like to see join the party in 2023. Follow The Bamboozle on Facebook and Twitter for all updates.
Poison The Well
The Bamboozle will celebrate its 20th anniversary alongside one of metalcore's most treasured releases. Poison The Well's You Come Before You came during a time when major labels found themselves on the hunt to sign the next big thing from the metalcore scene. A special anniversary set from the band would be an immense way to commemorate its release.
G Love and Special Sauce
While most people know Bamboozle for delivering some of the best acts in the pop-punk, metalcore, and emo scenes, the first two installments of the festival (known as The Great Bamboozle) aligned more with jam bands. While it would be strange for many to see alternative hip-hop band G Love and Special Sauce rock out amongst the sea of crowdsurfers and pit starters, it would be a great nod to the festival's origins.
Home Grown
Six years ago, beloved pop-punk outfit Homegrown got people in a frenzy with an Instagram photo of the band members together again. While they didn't announce any sort of reunion, they recently revealed they wouldn't rule one out in the future. While Home Grown never played Bamboozle, the act did rock the house at Skate & Surf Festival back in 2003 in support of their final studio album Kings of Pop.
Meet Me @ The Altar
With members hailing from Georgia, New Jersey, and Florida, pop-punk act Meet Me @ the Altar exploded overnight following the release of their infectious single "Garden" last June. A few months later, they landed a record deal with Fueled by Ramen, who helped launched the careers of Paramore and Fall Out Boy. Meet Me @ The Altar are on the verge of joining the aforementioned Grammy-nominated bands in the spotlight.
Tallah
What happens when a popular Youtuber (Justin Bonitz) and a second-generation drummer (Max Portnoy) get together to start a new project? You get Philadelphia nu-metalcore group Tallah, who have been on everyone's radar since the release of their debut album Matriphagy. By the time Bamboozle comes around in 2023, the band could arrive with a mindblowing sophomore album that will top their previous offering.
Static Dress
U.K. rockers Static Dress have the kind of sound that would've found them rocking the Bamboozle main stage in 2008. Reminiscent of Myspace-era post-hardcore, the band have been quickly turning heads with only a few songs under their belt. By the time 2023 rolls around, Static Dress can easily earn enough attention to warrant a main stage slot.
Ho99o9
New Jersey hip hop/punk rock group Ho99o9 have been a rising name in the scene with tours alongside The Prodigy, Avenged Sevenfold, and Korn. The band's explosive live show has been earning them praise from acts such as Ice-T and Corey Taylor. There's no telling what wild antics they'd pull with the hometown crowd cheering them on.
Aesthetic Perfection
Since 2000, industrial-pop artist Aesthetic Perfection has been lighting up the alternative club scene with cuts such as "Antibody" and "Love Like Lies." This year, the artist is releasing a new song every month for a special project. While Aesthetic Perfection's crowd wouldn't be seen at a festival such as Bamboozle, it wouldn't hurt to draw some new eyes to the artist.
Rina Sawayama
From hosting Demi Lovato in 2009 to having Ke$ha rock the main stage a year later, the Bamboozle Festival isn't scared of throwing in a pop act or two. London's own Rina Sawayama has all of the makings of a chart-topping superstar. Their debut album Sawayama blends pop, R&B, and metal to deliver something that gained high praise from iconic musician Elton John.
Garbage
'90s/early '2000s alternative rock acts No Doubt, Third Eye Blind and Fuel both found themselves rocking out for the nostalgia factor at the festival. Formed in 1994, Garbage would join the aforementioned acts on the radio with hits such as "Push It" and "Only Happy When It Rains.” Vocalist Shirley Manson would influence Bamboozle vets Hayley Williams and Taylor Momsen.
If I Die First
Los Angeles’ If I Die First is on that 2005 shit. Comprising of rapper Lil Lotus and From First To Last’s Travis Richter, the band, which formed last year, became a complete joy for those craving Warped Tour-era screamo. The band’s debut EP My Poison Arms found each member recording their parts separately due to lockdown.
