Max to be rebranded as HBO Max this summer

Streaming service Max is getting its old name back.
Revealed today at the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation in NYC, the service will return to its HBO Max name this summer. Immediately after changing its name to Max in 2023, the service lost millions of subscribers. For many folks, the name change stripped away the service’s identity. As expected, fans are roasting the company for switching the name back.
David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, said this at the Upfront presentation:
“The powerful growth we have seen in our global streaming service is built around the quality of our programming. Today, we are bringing back HBO, the brand that represents the highest quality in media, to further accelerate that growth in the years ahead.”
An exact date for the name change will be revealed soon.
