Indie rock artist Maura Waver has unveiled their new single “The Face” today.
An accompanying music video for the track was directed by John Hoffman, which can be seen here. Weaver said this about the song:
“‘The Face’ is about the isolation I often feel as a woman. It’s about neurosis and feeling gawked at like an object, yet invisible as an actual human being. I wrote this in an attempt to rip early Ultravox even though it obviously ended up sounding completely different.”
The Face stems from Weaver’s forthcoming sophomore album Strange Devotion, which will be released on September 19 via Feel It Records. Pre-orders and pre-saves can be made here.
Next month, Weaver will embark on a handful of shows supporting Dusk, Future Teens, and ADJY. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
