Canadian rock band knitting have dropped their new single “Fold” today.
The song comes nearly one year after the release of knitting’s debut album Some Kind of Heaven on Mint Records. An accompanying music video for the song was directed by Sasha Cay, who previously worked with maxime., Nora Kelly, and Bluebird. The visual can be seen here. Vocalist Mischa Dempsey said this about the new song:
“I wrote this song while I was experiencing a wave of social anxiety. I wanted to explore the suspicion that others will always be able to see something about you that you yourself cannot see, and that thus their perception will always be more accurate. Consequently, in this state of mind I find myself turning into a bit of a people-pleaser (something I’m trying to grow out of). This song is my attempt to shake myself out of this way of thinking, and demonstrate to myself how useless this mindset is.”
Later this month, knitting will head overseas for a trek across Europe and the U.K. On select dates, the band will be playing alongside Preoccupations. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now here.
