Katie Pearlman announces debut EP 'Mantra Songs,' releases new single “The Exception”
Singer-songwriter Katie Pearlman, who has earned praise as a featured artist alongside Gryffin, Dijon, and Lukas Graham, will unveil their debut EP later this month.
Pearlman’s new EP Mantra Songs will be delivered on June 25. A new single from the release titled “The Exception” can be heard below. Pearlman said this about the song:
“In a quarantine, when not much life is happening, I found myself writing mostly from memories. Not on purpose… mostly out of survival. The person I wrote this song about is a distant, distant memory, but one that still feels so close to me. I met him in college at a dinner party during Jazz Fest in New Orleans. He was older (practically twice my age) but our banter was electric. We spoke about music, philosophy, religion. It sparked a year long, life forming, relationship that awoke so many things in me. When it eventually died, I truly felt a part of me died with it. This song was technically written by accident. But clearly something in me knew it was a story I’ve been needing to tell for many years. My friends Wendy Wang and Jack Karaszewski helped produce it.”
The seven-track release, which includes the previously released singles “Sad Sex” and “Where Do You Go??”, was co-produced by Kyle Shearer (Caroline Polacheck), Wendy Wang, Trey Campbell (Banks, John Legend), and Jack Karazewski.
