John Carpenter will make their return to Midsummer Scream.

Revealed today, the iconic director will appear at the convention taking place from August 7 through August 9 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The appearance coincides with the release of Carpenter’s original graphic novel Cathedral and its accompanying soundtrack. On Friday, August 7, Midsummer Scream will hold a listening party for the Cathedral soundtrack. From 7 p.m. - 8 p.m., a special VIP portion with an appearance from Storm King Comics CEO Sandy King will take place. The first 50 people to purchase a bundle at the Storm King booth will gain access to the VIP portion. After 8 p.m., the listening party will be open to all Midsummer Scream attendees.

On Saturday, August 7, Carpenter will hold a graphic novel and soundtrack signing at the Storm King Comics booth. On Sunday, August 9, King will have a special Crafting Fear panel alongside editor Jeremy Cohen (Over Your Dead Body) and composer Samuel Jones (Didn’t Die).
