SoCal hardcore punk band Human Issue have signed a new deal with Smartpunk Records.
To coincide with today’s announcement, the band unveiled their new single “Waking.” An accompanying music video for the song, which can be seen here, was directed by Justin Eckley of Psychic Youth Large. Vocalist Hunter Martinez said this about the new single:
“The song ‘Waking’ is an ode to my friends back home. A group of kids from broken homes who bonded over drinking, stealing, fighting, and being reckless. Waking up later in life feeling the heaviness, visiting those memories, wishing I could change the past and feeling emotional about those who never made it out of that stage in life. Feeling guilt for the friends who had passed early on.”
Human Issue will have a handful of shows in the region, including a performance alongside Rich Kids on LSD and Good Riddance at Ventura Music Hall. In June, the band will head to the East Coast to perform at Camp Punksylvania. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now.
