Hideo Kojima is a fan of New Jersey deathcore band Lorna Shore
Hideo Kojima has always been open about their love of music, and today, they’re giving some praise to a rising deathcore band.
On Twitter, Kojima thanked Sony Music for sending them a copy of Lorna Shore’s latest studio album Pain Remains (Century Media), which was listed as one of our favorite albums of 2022. “Thanks to Sony Music for sending me LORNA SHORE's latest album "PAIN REMAINS". It seems that this is the landing album and debut album in Japan. It is a stiff deathcore, isn't it?,” Kojima stated. In 2017, Sony Music purchased Century Media.
Kojima has let their love of music have a strong impact on their games. Death Stranding uses a plethora of licensed music from acts such as Low Roar and Silent Poets. In a 2019 interview with Eurogamer, Kojima said this about selecting the right music for their games:
"I try to be connected to the actors, film directors, authors, artists, and musicians I personally like. The way I select the music or artists is based on trust I establish with them. The natural connection (strand) I have with these people makes it possible to work together."
Kojima is currently working on the sequel to Death Stranding, and they’re working on a new title exclusively for Xbox. It wouldn’t be shocking if Lorna Shore’s music winds up in one of these games.
Lorna Shore vocalist Will Ramos will be a featured vocalist for Metal: Hellsinger’s first DLC pack, which is slated to arrive on March 29. This spring, Lorna Shore will be touring the United States with Mastodon and Gojira as well as embarking on a headlining tour starting next week. Tour dates and tickets can be found here.
