Goodbye Volcano High slated for summer 2023 release
After being delayed to 2022, music-based narrative adventure game Goodbye Volcano High is now arriving next year.
Revealed today, the game, which was announced back in 2020, will be released next summer on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. A new trailer can be seen below.
A statement from game developers KO_OP reads:
“As many of you have likely guessed, Goodbye Volcano High will not be making its targeted 2022 release. We have made the difficult decision to push its launch to Summer of 2023.
This has been a learning experience for us: producing an ambitious project for our studio's size, with over 6000 voiced lines, and a large number of bespoke animations. We care about this game and the story we're telling so much, and want to deliver something that is in line with what we've always envisioned for this game. It's what you deserve!
We understand this delay might be disappointing, but we are confident this is the right decision and that it will be worth the wait.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this teaser trailer — it's a sneak peek of what we've been working on for the past little while!
You can find the full version of the song featured in our teaser ("Don't Call" by Dabu ft Brigitte Nagger) on YouTube or Bandcamp.”
A synopsis for the game reads:
Just Fang’s luck: they finally figure out what they want out of life, and now the world’s about to explode.
Ok. So the world’s ending—do you tell your crush your feelings? Fix your messed-up family dynamic? Write the best song ever ever ever?? Try to do it all?
Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure game about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. What will you do at the end of an era?
Goodbye Volcano High can be wishlisted on Steam right now.
