Five standout games at The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2025

Following Summer Game Fest, The Mix Summer Game Showcase delivered a slew of forthcoming video games for press and influencers to try out at the Grammy Museum Rooftop Terrace. We showcase five standout titles we saw at the event. From its tank controls to its inventory screen, Flesh Made Fear is a huge love letter to the old Resident Evil games. In the demo, I had to enter my way into a hotel to grab Developer Tainted Pact Games has unveiled a handful of horror titles in the past (Weeping Falls Massacre and Terror at Oakheart), and they're continuing things with this forthcoming title. A demo of Flesh Made Fear is available on Steam right now.
Based on the book series of the same name, Heroes of Mount Dragon is a side-scrolling brawler featuring heroes with unique abilities. The game allows you to play with friends in local and online co-op in competitive mode and adventure mode. Competitive mode allows multiple players to traverse through levels in order to get the top score. During competitive mode, various power-up boxes with unique perks will appear. During my run, perks such as the ability to reverse your opponent's controls and a fire boost on attacks were available. Heroes of Mount Dragon is slated for a June 25 release.
Table Tactics is a tabletop game mixing tactics and physics for an engaging experience. With a field full of miniatures, the player's goal is to take down the opponent with various weapons. With every hit, players will gain coins used to create more soliders on the field. The physics allow miniatures to fly around the board after getting attacked. In one scenario, a dragon I assaulted managed to flip around the board in a hilarious fashion. No release date has been announced just yet.
Blippo+ brings retro TV to the miniature gaming device PlayDate. In the game, players can browse through multiple black-and-white TV channels featuring some interesting programming. Over 11 weeks, the channels will go through their own storylines, including mentioning each other on air. The minishows were filmed in Glendale, making Blippo+ a locally produced title. Blippo+ is slated to arrive on Steam and the Nintendo Switch in the future. For these ports, the game will be in color.
Visual novel Return To Ash deals with the perils of life and death. In the game, Ash wakes up in the afterlife, but they're not alone. While meeting others in the same boat, Ash runs into Death. This figure has the ability to bring folks back to life, but it won't come easy. For those looking for a quick game, Return To Ash will take around two to four hours to complete. Return To Ash will be released on July 10.
