Five exciting game announcements at The Game Awards 2024
Last night, The Game Awards celebrated its 10th anniversary with an event filled with unforgettable moments and surprising wins. One of the most exciting things about the ceremony revolves around the game announcements, and there were plenty of shocking reveals. Intergalactic Heretic Prophet announced
The Game Awards concluded their string of premieres with a sci-fi title from Naughty Dog. Intergalactic Heretic Prophet follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun's venture through the distant planet of Sempiria. The role of Jordan will be played by Tati Gabrielle, who is best known for their work on You, The 100, and The Owl House. This isn't the first video game project for the talent; they recently appeared in the Uncharted film and have forthcoming appearances in the Mortal Kombat 2 film and season two of The Last of Us. The game's soundtrack will be scored by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. More information about the game will be released soon.
Onimusha Way of the Sword announced
With over eight million copies sold worldwide, fans have been clamoring for another Onimusha title for years. Luckily for them, the franchise will make its grand return in 2026 with Onimusha Way of the Sword. The title is the first proper entry in the Onimusha series since 2006's Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. A synopsis for the new game reads:
Fight through bloodbaths of intense swordplay action. Explore the historic Japanese capital of Edo-era Kyoto, twisted by malevolent clouds of Malice. With every stage cloaked in mystery, danger, and intrigue. Battle against monstrosities from the underworld known as Genma in a tale of dark fantasy. Follow the tale of a samurai who wields the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants its bearer the power to slay Genma. Through gritty, blood-soaked brawls, he searches for his reason to fight. What fate awaits at the end of his path?
Okami sequel in development
Another beloved Capcom title is coming back after 20 long years. Backed by a monstrous live musical performance, Capcom announced a new Okami game is currently in development. Released in 2006, the first Okami game became a critical darling, and it influenced games such as Prince of Persia and Street Fighter IV. No release window has been set for the Okami sequel.
Turok Origins announced
Saber Interactive and Universal Products & Experiences are joining forces to bring new Turok action to consoles and PC with Turok Origins. Players can take on dinosaurs and alien threats alone or team up with friends in co-op mode. No release date for the title has been revealed yet. A synopsis for Turok Origins reads:
Players will take on the role of fierce Turok warriors to face off against ferocious dinosaurs and a terrifying alien threat that seeks to destroy all human life in the galaxy. Fans can unleash devastating attacks on enemies with weapons and abilities, and harness fallen enemies’ DNA to upgrade their arsenal. Players will embark on a high-stakes adventure — solo or with friends — to unravel mysteries that hold the key to saving humanity.
Pac-Man goes dark with Shadow Labyrinth
Everyone's favorite orb will be diving into a completely new territory with Shadow Labyrinth. In the title, players control The Swordsman, whose goal is to traverse through a giant maze with the aid of Pac-Man. Fans caught an early glimpse of the concept thanks to Amazon Prime Video's Secret Level. With strong Metroidvania vibes, Shadow Labyrinth arrives in time for Pac-Man's 45th anniversary.
