Five anime shows to watch this Winter 2023 season
With January finally here, it means one thing for anime fans: a slew of new winter shows arriving for their viewing pleasure. While snow will bring some people down, having some new weekly shows to dive into can make things a bit better. We look at five great anime series coming to a small screen near you.
Isekai Nonbiri Nōka (Farming Life in Another World)
January 6 (HIDIVE)
Based on Kinosuke Naito’s light novel of the same name, Farming Life in Another World follows Machio Hiraku, who gets transported to another world following their death. In their new territory, they enjoy their new life as a farmer. Studio Zero-G (Tsugumomo, Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) will be handling the show.
Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta (My Life as Inukai-san's Dog)

It's everyone's dream to become their classmate's pet, right? In Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta, one boy magically transforms into the dog of their crush in school. The series, which is based on Itsutsuse's manga of the same name, is produced by studio Quad.
Buddy Daddies

Original anime series Buddy Daddies follows assassins/roommates Kazuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa, who wind up looking after a four-year-old girl named Miri Unasaka. While it sounds lovely, Miri’s father is a mafia boss, and the little girl is trying to find them. The show is co-produced by Aniplex (Fate/Grand Order, Naruto) and Nitroplus (Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa, Expelled from Paradise) with P.A. Works (Shirobako, The Eccentric Family) handling the animation.
Mou Ippon! ("Ippon" again!)
January 9 (HIDIVE)
Sports anime Mou Ippon!, which is based on Yu Muraoka’s manga series of the same name, revolves around Michi, who manages to lose interest in judo after a heartbreaking loss. Fortunately, their friend Sanae Takigawa will help them falling in love with the sport again. The show is developed by animation studio Bakken Record (Exception, Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood).
Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari
January 10 (Crunchyroll)
Bandai Namco Pictures (Gintama, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun) is adding to their growing line of anime titles with Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari. In the series, Hyoma Kunato has a traumatic experience with spirits known as tsukumogami, who have the ability to possess objects. After one took away a loved one, Kunato begins despising them. Kunato gets an experience of a lifetime when they move in with Botan Nagatsuki, who masters six friendly Mononogatari.
