Fate/EXTRA Record announced for consoles and PC in 2025
A remake of Fate/EXTRA is set to be released next year.
Fate/EXTRA Record will arrive on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam). Developed by Type-Moon and published by Bandai Namco, the remake was announced at Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2024. A new trailer for the game can be seen here. A remake was announced back in 2020.
Originally released in 2010 in Japan and in North America the next year on the PSP, Fate/EXTRA spawned manga adaptations and an anime adaptation titled Fate/Extra Last Encore. A companion game titled Fate/Extra CCC was released in Japan in 2013.
A synopsis for the original game reads:
Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one's wish granted. With only an enigmatic "Servant" by their side, the protagonist will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the "Holy Grail," but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: "Who am I?"
A synopsis for Fate/Extra Last Encore, which is available on Netflix, reads:
Hakuno Kishinami finds himself in the midst of a Holy Grail war with no memories of how he got there. Through his confusion, he must fight to survive.
