Emily Jane White releases new single “The Hands Above Me”
Folk artist Emily Jane White has unveiled their new song “The Hands Above Me.”
Released on Friday, the track stems from White’s forthcoming studio album Alluvion. An accompanying music video, which can be seen below, was directed by Taylor Joshua Rankin. White said this about the new cut:
“’The Hands Above Me’ is a song about political division, both manufactured and real. The narrator asks each side of a political divide if they truly support humanity or just voice empty words. The precarious state of a deeply fractured country is exemplified by the swinging of a pendulum, and the feeling of invisibility and abandonment so many feel in America, as if the lights are slowly dimming all around us.”
Pre-orders for Alluvion, which arrives on March 25 via Talitres, can be made here. “The Hands Above Me” is out on digital services right now.
White will embark on a summer North American tour in support of the album with stops in Montreal, NYC, and Los Angeles. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public right now.
