Doom gets limited-edition SNES release via Limited Run Games

Limited Run Games is going back in time to showcase one of the greatest FPS ever.
Announced today, the company will deliver Doom in a limited-edition SNES cartridge. For this release, Limited Run Games partnered with Bethesda Softworks and brought in assistance from original Doom programmer Randal Linden. The limited-edition Doom cartridge will include an enhanced version of the game along with a batch of new levels originally removed from the final product.
A description of the limited-edition Doom cartridge reads:
The new. The improved. The DEFINITIVE DOOM SNES experience!
All 4 DOOM episodes, including Thy Flesh Consumed, added circle-strafe, Performance improvements, Monster respawning on Nightmare difficulty, Level codes, and Rumble support via an all-new controller!
Welcome to Doom, soldier. Now shut up and start fighting because there's no time to waste! We're talking total war against the forces of evil, with the only thing standing between civilization and the end of everything as we know it is you - one angry Marine with a handgun and a bad attitude. This is the full-auto, 16-meg faithful version of the PC original. Which means all the same monsters, levels, weapons, and surprises are around for a screaming fast descent into danger with sudden death lurking around every corner. Strap on your ammo and prepare to spit lead. Because now's your chance to be a hero.
Aside from the limited-edition Doom cartridge, Limited Run Games will also release the Rumble Tech Controller, which offers vibration to SNES games. Pre-orders for both the limited-edition Doom cartridge and Rumble Tech Controller will go live on July 11 at 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST here. Pre-orders for both items will close on Sunday, August 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST/8:59 p.m. PST. Both items are slated to ship in late February 2026.
