Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold 3.3 million copies in just 33 days
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has hit an intriguing milestone since its launch last month.
Today, it was revealed that the Sandfall Interactive title has sold 3.3 million copies within 33 days of its release. This feat is massive for a small studio such as Sandfall Interactive, which has 30 core team members working on the title. 33 days before its official release, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 went gold.
The game’s soundtrack composed by Lorien Testard also managed to turn heads by debuting at number one on the Billboard Classical Albums chart. So far, the soundtrack has earned nearly 100 million streams. A Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 live-action film was announced months before the game’s release.
A synopsis for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 reads:
Once a year, the Paintress wakes and paints upon her monolith. Paints her cursed number. And everyone of that age turns to smoke and fades away. Year by year, that number ticks down and more of us are erased. Tomorrow she’ll wake and paint “33.” And tomorrow we depart on our final mission - Destroy the Paintress, so she can never paint death again.
