U.K. dark pop band Bitter Kisses unveil debut single "Pr*y"
U.K. dark pop band Bitter Kisses delivered their debut single "Pr*y" today.
The song was recorded with Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw, Mother Vulture) at Stage 2 Studios with Tom Cory (Novatines, Superlove) handling the mixing and mastering.
The band, who describe their music as “Pop music you can beat your friends up to,” said this about the new single:
“Pr*y was partially inspired by a fever dream in which Lady Gaga collaborated with Queens of the Stone Age to produce a new Earth Wind And Fire song.
When writing Pr*y we wanted to create a track which could ambiguously explore the difference in meanings of the words ‘prey’ and ‘pray’, and how they each apply to dangerous or unhealthy relationships. One person could worship another, while at the same time being preyed upon by the subject of their love. The meaning of the lyrics can change depending on which version prey/pray you want to hear whenever they’re used in the song.”
An accompanying music video for the song, which can be seen below, was directed by Chris Lucas. Bitter Kisses said this about the video:
“With this music video, we wanted to create a world fitting the style and mood of the track. Naturally, this meant creating a sinister, twisted disco-cult in a run-down nightclub.
We loved the idea of creating a gothic chamber in a nightclub and having two unwitting victims fall into its trap. One of our couple succumbs quickly, almost willingly to the will of the room. Meanwhile, the other watches their partner lose themselves and tries in vain to fight back against the influence.”
"Pr*y" is available on digital services right now.
Tommorow (February 4), the band will have a sold-out single release show with special guests Blacklist and Hell-iOS at Crofters Rights in their hometown of Bristol.
