Artificial life video game series Creatures arrives to Steam in December
Artificial life video game series Creatures will make its way to Steam next month.
Announced today, Creatures Docking Station and Creatures 3 will be released on December 6. Later in the month, Creatures: The Albian Years (a compilation of Creatures & Creatures 2 with their respective expansions) and Creatures Village (including both Creatures Adventures and Creatures Playground).
Computer scientist Steve Grand was inspired to make the game after reading the novel The Planiverse. The first Creatures, which was released in 1996 game earned an EMMA Award for Best Action/Simulation game. Creatures 2 was nominated in the Artificial Intelligence category at the Spotlight Awards. Creatures Adventures gave the franchise its second EMMA Award with a win for Best Entertainment: Family game. Creatures Playground earned a BAFTA Award nomination for The Children’s Award. The game found fans in Oxford zoologist Richard Dawkins and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy author Douglas Adams.
The Steam releases will be handled by Critter Consortium.
