Wrestling RPG WrestleQuest will certainly be in the running for Game of the Year 2022
Wrestling fans know what they’re going to get with wrestling games nowadays: you pick a wrestler and take down your opponent with a bevy of flashy moves for the pinfall One wrestling game, however, is changing things in a big way.
Developed by Mega Cat Studios and published by Skybound Games, WrestleQuest, which was announced today at the Xbox Indie Showcase, lets the player go down an unforgettable journey as a pro wrestler. Unlike most wrestling games, WrestleQuest features RPG mechanics, which gives it a completely unique approach. Instead of a realistic battle, players have to choose their moves from the menu.
The announcement trailer can be seen below, and wrestling fans will be quick to notice some familiar faces, including Andre the Giant, Macho Man Randy Savage, and Jake The Snake Roberts. While their names aren’t in the game, their likenesses are prevalent.
WrestleQuest’s announcement comes days after the release of WWE 2K22, which has seen praise from wrestling fans following the disappointing release of WWE 2K20. With AEW’s wrestling game in development by former WWE video game developers Yuke’s, the wrestling game market looks even brighter than before.
More information on WrestleQuest can be found here. The game will be released this summer on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
