Video game music festival vgmtogether arrives this weekend on Twitch
A slew of people from the video game music community will join forces for vgmtogether.
Taking place this weekend (March 12 - March 14), vgmtogether will deliver panels, gaming tournaments, and live performances. Some of the musical acts slated to perform this weekend include producer Ben Briggs, violinist Meowsical, and freestyle hip hop D&D group D&D Skill Check. Panels such as VGM Beatboxing 101, Streaming For Musicians, and Challenger Approaching – Perfecting A Fighting Game OST will be available for the viewing audience.
When it comes to the event, vgmtogether co-director Doug "DrumUltimA" Perry said:
"The videogame music community is a vibrant and diverse community that I’ve cherished being a part of for many years now. As the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of all of the events where we would typically gather, we wanted to create something that would help the community not feel so isolated during these difficult times.”
Vgmtogether’s other co-director Nujj stated:
"In my experience, videogame music has always been about being part of a community. We share the experiences of games we played through music, we attend concerts together, and we rehearse with friends for hours. The VGM fandom is a welcoming space for musicians and fans alike. We are crafting an event that brings that feeling of togetherness to everyone, no matter where they are."
The event will be streaming live on Twitch (Music stream channel and panel channel). Video game tournaments will be taking place through the festival’s Discord channel. More information about the festival, including the schedule and guest list, can be found here.
