Video game music cover band DiscoCactus release debut album 'Mania Mode'
Video game music cover band DiscoCactus have unveiled their debut album.
Titled Mania Mode, the 12-track album features covers of songs from games such as The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy XIV, and Persona 5. The band successfully funded the album last year via Kickstarter. Mania Mode is available on digital services right now.
The band said this about the album:
"This album is a celebration of our passion for videogame music. We love digging into our favorite musical themes, taking them apart and seeing what makes them tick, and then reinterpreting that material in a new way. We utilize a variety of styles and genres in our arrangements to reflect our experiences with the games, and bring them to life with the help of the many talented performers with whom we collaborate!"
DiscoCactus will have performances in NYC in the following weeks: June 30 at Brooklyn’s Wonderville and July 8 at The Cutting Room in Manhattan.
The band features video game composers Ben Wallace (Piano, Rhodes, Hammond Organ), Doug Perry (Vibraphone, Glockenspiel, Voice), Laura Intravia (Flute, Piccolo, EWI, Voice), Matheus Souza (Violin, Electric Violin), Pete Bobinski (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar), and Sam Bobinski (Double Bass, Electric Bass).
