The Real Ghostbusters to have 40th anniversary celebration in Los Angeles
Beloved cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters will have a special 40th anniversary celebration in Los Angeles.
Giving Back with The Real Ghostbusters: A 40th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday, October 3 at Dynasty Typewriter. The event will feature a live script reading with the original cast, including Laura Summer ("Janine", voice actor), Maurice LaMarche ("Dr. Egon Spengler", voice actor), and Jim Cummings ("Extreme Ghostbusters", singer). Special guests will join them at the table. A special musical performance from Cummings and The Flux Capacitors will take place when doors open at 1 p.m. The live script reading will begin at 2 p.m. A special screening of The Real Ghostbusters and the independent animated short McBusters (created by Myke Chillian) will also take place.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will go towards Starlight Children’s Foundation, which is a national nonprofit dedicated to delivering happiness to seriously ill children and their families through programs at children’s hospitals free of charge. Adam Garone, CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation said this about the upcoming event:
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Saturday Morning Cartoons United team and the Ghostbusters community for coming together to help us transform the hospital experience for young patients, bringing moments of fun, happiness, and normalcy to an unfamiliar environment. The funds raised from this event will provide more programs like our Ghostbusters-themed Starlight Hospital Gowns to children’s hospitals nationwide, helping kids feel like Ghostbusters themselves as they take on the challenges of a hospital stay.”
Debuting in 1986, The Real Ghostbusters became an instant hit with fans of the film and led to the creation of spin-off series Extreme Ghostbusters. The Real Ghostbusters can be viewed on Tubi here.
